View Full Version : Michigan Stainless 11-3/4 x 17 cupped (johnson 40 - 50 small gear case) for sale
I have a michigan stainless cupped prop for sale. I found it at a closout sale and have used it very little. It will come in the original box, polished and ready for use. No dings, scratches, etc in the prop. I have only used it about an hour or so, so it is basically a brand new prop.
Looking to get $150 + shipping costs from 55033.
email if interested at svaerst@earthlink.net.

Steve, I'll just reply here. I've got a 16 footer pretty well loaded with a 40HP Johnson running a 12 1/4 x 15 aluminum prop. What type of rig were you running it on? The Michigan website recommends a 11 3/4 x 15 for my setup. I don't know if your prop would put too much of a load on the motor. Also what do you mean by small gearcase? My motor is a 1998 2 cylinder 40 hp tiller with power trim and tilt. Thanks, Ron
Hi Ron!!
Received your email, but I could not reply to it...said your account was invalid.
Here is what I have: 1999 16-foot alumacraft Lunker console with a 50 Johnson. I was able to pull 5000 RPMs with the prop which gave me 34-35 mph (motor in 3rd hole up off transom) but my hole shot was not optimum for me. I like to be able to pop out of the water in an instant, and this particular prop just did not do that for me.
The rig weighs about 1000 lbs loaded. I tried the motor in the highest bolt hole position (2-1/4 inches above transom)and turned 5100 RPM and hole shot seemed better, but still not quite to my liking. Like you, my bow has 2 batteries, a charger, and a bow mount troller, so it's a bit heavy up front as well. If I didn't have those up front, I am pretty sure the prop would have been great on the boat. It felt like I was just barely on the water when I was wide open.
If my hole shot was better, I'd be satisfied with the prop. I liked my top end in terms of bite on the water and lift, but feel that I can find a better prop for my set-up.
If you are interested in purchasing (think you are in Pennsylvania?) I will be in michigan later this week and would send it from there...would save some shipping I would think since distance is much less than from Minnesota. If possible, let me know by Monday morning..I will be on the road that afternoon.
