Got a question for you guys/gals......

gotta share a leech story...we're at the cisco chain on the wisconsin/michigan border for a mwc event. (back in '87) got there, and bein' rookies, assumed leeches would be readily available. wrong!
so we're in this bar and i ask a local about leeches. he smiles and says he's gotta cooler full outside in his truck. so, salivating, i follow him out. as we're walkin' toward the leeches, i ask him "are they any good"? (of course i meant size etc.) so he reaches in the cooler, grabs a handful, and puts them in his mouth! straight faced, he swishes'em around, spits'em out, and says "you know, they ain't bad... i bought the whole cooler full! and the walleyes reacted like he did...

Last winter I cleaned alot of walleyes that ended up having leeches in their stomachs. This was pretty much through the whole winter. Not all of them but quite a few. So I got some power leeches and trimmed them down a little to look a little more like a real leech and put them down in front of the camera and experimented until I got it figured out. Once I did I had fantastic luck. The only way I could the fish to hit em was to use a plain hook that I put a small split shot in front of and then set it on the bottom and just barely twitched it. Worked great and I don't go without them anymore.
