I was reading a post earlier from Eyeboy about how much fun the 2001 Get-Together was and it got me thinking, (always dangerous). Maybe if we set a date now it will give everyone plenty of time to plan for this years event.
Last year we met the weekend of the 18th of August. That seemed to be a good time frame? It allowed the Wyoming and the CWA to complete their tournament schedules without any conflict. the fishing was fantastic (suspended eye's, chasing shad} and no snow like the 2000 Get-Together. This year the weekend of the 16, 17 and 18th is comperable. Would this work for everyone? Scott what do you think?
I know this is still seven months away, but the time will pass quickly. Last year we had five boats and about 14 people. This year I think we can get at least 30 people to show if we give everyone plenty of time to plan.
If you missed last years Get-Together you missed a great time. Lots of nice fish, beer, great weather and good people. We had an excellent fish fry each night, {thanks Dave Kooser). Yes, Colorado anglers in Wyoming you actually catch walleye and are allowed to eat some!!! For those of you who forgot how to fillet eye's, you will get to relearn the art! Hopefully this year we can get more Wyoming anglers to attend. Maybe the prospect of getting to kick @#$#$ out of Eric/CO will motivate some more to show up, LOL.
SO what does everyone think?

I just assumed Glendo is where everyone would want to go to again, but if you have other suggestions we can always have a vote again.

how about a little road trip to the Columbia River?

Out in Oregon land where the walleyes grow bigger and the ODFW wants to eliminate them altogether!

I would love to fish there sometime, all those pictures in the 10lb club from the Columbia are impressive!!!

I'd go if I could but chances are late August will run right up on school and that would discount me. If it works into my schedule I am there. We might not have the nicest or fanciest rig but we'd love to go fish with the big boys.

It's a weekend Kevin! Just make sure your homework is caught up and come up and have some fun. There are some really good fisherman in that group, you can really learn alot from some of them!

Wow Neal, you're right on top of it this year. I think the dates are great, and the location should stay Glendo.
I'll have to start checking now to see if my wife will let me break free this year.

Being that I have never been involved in something like this(WC get together), please tell me what it is all about? Also, what month are you talking about? If I knew in advance I would make sure I am not guiding for those days, and drift up there for the get together. Appreciate any info!

We started this in the fall of 2000. I had thought the first week of October was a good date? It snowed and we had only 8 people show up, but we still had fun. Last year we set the date for mid August and we ahd blast. Between five boats we probably caught 150 eye's and the weather was perfect.
It is not a tournament, just a chance for everyone in our region to get together and put a face to the name. We will never be able to rival the numbers of the Huron get- together, but I think we have about 50 people in this region who are regular WC users.
Note to Wheels! Notice the short concise answer by Dave Kooser. This is how real men plan! They don't ask there wives, they circle a date on the calender and post it on the frig. I realize women are a scarce commodity in Wyoming and you don't want to lose yours, but please, I am giving your seven months to get permission, LOL.

All due respect Neal (really not much due to a guy who lets a 5 lb carp turn his leadcore reel into something looking like an Annie hair doo on a windy, electrified day), Wheels wife let him buy a place out at Glendo. It has taken me about 16 years of whinning to finally hear my wife say that a Class C is now OK to research. Wheels has a boat too, you? Don't use the "money" excuse either, there are 24 hours in a day for your wife to work and support your habits. Wheels will be there, heck no one in their right mind would miss Stans billboard shirt. Remember, the shirt made of sponsor patches?

All valid points points Dave! But I owed Heath a cheap shot somewhere down the line and I took it!
How about some further south neighbors?
I am from NM (moved here in '93 from WI) and would probably make the trip with the wife or possibly other anglers.

Not saying you can't, but judging from the gang last year, I don't know that I'd subject my wife to that kind of environment!

dkooser,
Thanks for sticking up for me, my Glendo place has an open door for you anytime. I thought there for a minute I was going to have to touch on Neal's burning desire to catch trout.
As far as Stan's billboard goes, I think his boat matches his shirt.
It's all in good fun guys!

Thanks for the heads up.

For two years in a row I have planned to attend and something came up each time to put the kibosh on my plans. I will try again and hope that things are smoother. Someday I'll meet all of you in the flesh.

Homework isn't the problem, a college course load and starting on what should be the 19th is. As I am sure you're wife and kids can attest to Neal it takes a while to get prepared for school, but I'll see what can be worked out of course, all I can say is god (and school) willing we are in. My partner owns the rig and he might be off to college by then which is another glitch I will try to get worked out by then.

Neal;
To call you pro-active would be to vastly understate; but you are correct, the months will fly by. I will be there, but I will need a boat ride. Maby Karuse can bring an extra supply of his killers, for us folks that spend too much money on all of those other lures. Although, that 10#er that I caught, (Eric, I know that you did not try to beat that fish off of my line on purpose), was caught on a Risto-Rap (el-cheapo).
The GTG was way fun and those that deprive themselves of the chance to attend are doing themselves a major disservice. Walleye feed with great fixins two nights in a row, great friends, and conversation up to the top of your chest waders.

Hey Tom, I hope you are well! I just figured if we set a date early maybe we can get a few more people to attend. I had a total blast last year. Mr. Golden hasn't weighed in yet, but I am sure he will. That week seems to be a good time of year for this. Tournaments are over, hunting season hasn't started yet and the weather is perfect. Not to mention that 10lber you caught will be out there suspended in the same area again chasing shad?
I will be there with a fresh supply of killers. I should have room in boat as Golden should have a boat this year.Looking forward to it.

Hey Dennis, good to hear from you! Glad to hear you will be there, I learned alot from just watching you and Scott last year.

Classes may start on the 19th but most Professors won't have anything due for a while. Anxiety for what you are to experience is normal, so I understand. Wait till you get all the class sylibi (or is sylubuses?) you will trip out!
There should be enough boats, so needing a rig is not an issue. Neal can attest. We almost had more boats than people last year.

Eric when you were in school did you ever here of the IB program? I'll wager not, but what it primarily is is a more intense version of AP that spans two years. Second semester junior year/first semester senior year is essentially three semesters of college. The first semester of the junior year depending on course selection can add an additional year of college credit. So depending on how a student performs on the testing that occupies the last semester of high school and the recognition of the college you can recieve enough credits to supplement the first year and a half of college. For me this means this coming summer I'll have to meet the non class requirements for the program meaning 100 hours of community service (anyone got a good idea for a project that would take 75 man hours) and write 4 large essays and complete most of my college applications, plus work. Its not just anticipation based anxeity, if it was me worrying about assignments I'd receive upon return I'd be there.

I'm with you Dan. Let's have a "Far-West" some time on the Columbia, then I might have a change of jumping in. We probably have a half dozen guys on this board that post from the Northwest, so we might get some interest.
