I'm sorry to say that you will not find any cabin-type lodging on the Detroit River, at least on the American side. Remember, this is metro Detroit. We start going in Mid-March thru Mid-May and average six weekends/year down there. I would suggest the Woodhaven Knights Inn for bottom dollar no frills. The Woodhaven Best Western next door is a touch nicer but a little more expensive. Both these places are about as close as you want to be to the river and launches. Book early as both fill up with fisherman quickly.

I stayed at Knights Inn for PWT last year and wouldn't keep my dog there. Overflowing garbage cans, broken glass in the parking lot and not much English spoken at the front desk!! Lots of us stayed there and most had complaints. Never again.

Try windsor,Ontario Canada, no cabin's but lots of good places and great if you have american money.Right now it's 60 cents on the doller and there are 3 or 4 good ramps which all have good fishing within minutes on the water, you won't be sorry. LET ME KNOW WHEN YOUR LOOKIN TO COME DOWN , Ill hook you up with all the info you need ,including how the bite is ,right down to the spots. let me know

Windsor would be a good choice, nice town. If you go, dont miss the Tunnel BBQ for some outstanding ribs!
The only thing to keep in mind if you stay in Canada is the border crossing may still be a hassle, expecially if you want to drive in the morning to the US to launch. And if you launch/fish in Canada, a Canadian licence will be needed and Canadian maritime law is a bit different. But as riverrunner said, it just might be the ticket for you.
Just some things to keep in mind you may not have thought about. We want you to enjoy your stay here.
Another option you may want to look into is Gibralter or the South Rockwood area. They are just down Jefferson, the main drag that runs along the river (then the lake) I think there are a few little motels down that way you might be able to stay at. If you like, I could take a drive down there one day and scope it out for you.
