Could I use a X 75 on my bow and a X 85 on the transom or will I have interference between the two units.
Thanks

It depends! Any two sounders that run at the same or close transducer frequency will have interference problems if the cones intersect one and other. Most Lowrance units use 192 Khz transducers. Most other brands use 50 and 200 Khz frequencies, while a few use 120. Units with 192 and 200 frequencies will interfere with each other -- generally if you have 20 Khz of separation between the units, the problems are minimal even if the cones overlap.

Mainly three factors on this:

1) Horizontal distance between the transducers -- a 20' boat will have less problems than a 16'er.

2) Depth of water being used in -- the cone size of the transucer's sound wave gets wider the deeper it gets. Consequently it is more likely that you will have overlap in 40' of water than you would in 15'.

3) Cone angle of the transucers. if you have two at 8 degrees, then they probably won't overlap and no problem. Two wider degree units will overlap a lot sooner in shallower water than narrow units. Mixing cone angles will give mixed results.

Hope this helps.
