Yes, you should get your confirmation soon. I called the other day with the same question and they were getting them in the mail. They did not have an exact number, but the early-bird numbers are starting to build up. The North American fishing club is doing an excellent job in my eyes. You always get a quick response and they tell you what they know. I would love to see any continuation of this post site remain constructive, not like the other post sites that continually bombard the decision making process of Cabela's and the MWC. Everyone is saying that the Mille Lacs tournament is going to be bad PR for all tournament anglers. I would say that many, not all, on other post sites, are giving ourselves bad PR by the way we represent the sport we love on the posts.
Seaweed, are you that lead liner guy that is continually pulling up weeds?? Is that why they call you "Seaweed"???

Seaweed,
I just called the MWC info line 877.893.7947 As of 1/3/01 the were 3, yes, count them 3 early bird registered.
Myself and 3 teams I personally know of who were preparred to enter earlybird until the schedule change will not! All due to the Mille Lacs event.
We will wait to enter Mille Lacs and hope we get in on the 2/1/01 entry date for Spring Valley. Take the others as they come.
Why wait?
Lets see. The Mn DNR has not announced what the slot will be. Heck, if there will even be an open season!!
The indians have just announced that they intend to net/spear 100,000 pounds of walleye this spring. On top of that they plan on selling their harvest to cover expenses!! That 100,000 pounds is twice the amount they took last year. 48,000 pound certainly put a crimp on the DNR's harvest numbers. Will be interesting to say the least.

We were told that as of today there were 16 teams.
Minnesota
Not starting a fight and in no way supporting the indian rights but just an fyi.Last years quota for the bands was 85000 pounds of which they "only" took 48000 pounds. So lets hope that the trend of them not actually taking there quota continues.
