Bigger bait when the fish aren't biting

A friend of mine and I did alittle fishing at Spirit Lake and couldn't get the fish to bite. We noticed that when we put on a bigger jig the fish seemed more aggressive. I know this is against the norm but has anyone else experienced this?

I've had this happen also. Everyone always says "downsize" but as long as it works, I'll try it.
