I know this isn't fishing, but I'm so annoyed that I'm sputtering. Each year teams playing in the final game of the season wind up playing each other in the first round of the playoffs. This year it happened again with Oakland/Jets and Tampa Bay/Eagles. All it would take to prevent this from happening would be to schedule AFC teams versus NFC teams on the last week, but I guess that rocket science is lost on the NFL. GRRRRRRR!!!

Although it does happen that teams wind up playing each other in the first round, there is also the potential excitement of 2 teams playing for the same playoff spot (a bonus week of playoffs if you will). It all just adds to the excitement of the season in my opinion.

This past weekends games were supposed to be played the 2nd week of the season. Remember they canceled the week of football after sept 11.
Besides only Tampa and Philly knew if they won or lost they were still in the play-offs against each other.

cws is right. The week 2 games were played at the end. Usually teams end the year in their own division for rivalry's sake, and often a division title can be still up for grabs.

Right you are guys, I forgot about last week being week two. But if you go back to the week before which was supposed to be the last week, you have the same thing, for example, Minnesota playing Green Bay and other league contests. Many years that matchup would be followed by a first round playoff game. I must be the only one bothered, but I feel that teams play it close to the vest and don't want to show anything innovative when they know they are going to be meeting each other the next week. The worst games I have seen are ones where the teams will be playing again the next week. Well, that's it for me, I'm going fishing!
