Years ago on my boats maiden voyage I just clipped a rock. A vertical section of the skeg, about 3/4 of an inch wide broke off the back. The insurance company replaced the lower unit case and the dealer gave me the part and told me it was worth keeping. It's been sitting in my garage since. I can email pictures.
