Hello Folks,

Would Appreciate any & all replys. Currently have the boat set up for an all day trolling outing. Using a '96 Manual Start 15 hp Evin 4 stroke as my kicker. Considering converting over to the Electric start feature with the largest possible alternatr available to keep the batteries charged up.

Conversion Questions ?

- Can this be done
- What parts involved
- Can the tiller arm (with throttle and kill switch) be removed in the process
- Anticipated costs
- Any other input you can offer.

Thanks for your help.

I had my '96 Johnson 25HP converted from manual to electric start. I believe it cost around $150. That included all parts and labor and was one of the best investments I've made in a long time. Go for it.

Hey Eyedoktor,

Would appreciate it if you would explain in a little more detail.
Who did the conversion work.
What all did that include for the price.
The size and output of the alternator.

Anything else you could add.

Thanks .......... Stotch

I have a 9.9 four stroke 2001 that I would also like to convert to electic start. Who in the MN area( Twin City) does this? Would this also change the trottle control to be controled by the shifter?

Your nearest OMC dealer can do the conversion for you if they have the parts availability. Shouldn't cost more than 200.00 depending on your graphic location. I believe the alternator output is 2.5 amps. Enough to throw some juice back into your battery. Tight lines, Bo #582
