Just Starting Out

Hello --I am going to try Walleye fishing for the first time this weekend in upstate New York---What types of baits should I use--crank baits --slow moving live baits ect.??? and if live bait --what type---Should I troll or drift???--What type of structure or areas should the fish be holding to this time of year??? tell us just what kind of water you'll be fishing... Despite what the New York City dwellers think, there's quite a chunk of land and water here... :-)

Sorry about that--I am going to fish Lk Pleasant in Speculator ,NY- --dont know much about the Lk yet--I have only seen it covered w/ about 3 feet of ice --so I dont know if the water is clear or stained or what type of structure is around--the only thing I have been told is that there are alot of Walleye in the lake--I do alot of fresh water fishing-just not for Walleye --because the lakes where I live dont have any Walleye---I was just looking for a few basic pointers--

I would absolutely talk to the baitshops or area tackle dealers. Option 2, if you can afford it hire a guide.
