Hello --I am going to try Walleye fishing for the first time this weekend in upstate New York---What types of baits should I use--crank baits --slow moving live baits ect.??? and if live bait --what type---Should I troll or drift???--What type of structure or areas should the fish be holding to this time of year??? Thank for any info ----Jay

Might help everyone out a little, friend, if you
tell us just what kind of water you'll be fishing... Despite what the New York City dwellers think, there's quite a chunk of land and water here... :-)

Sorry about that--I am going to fish Lk Pleasant in Speculator ,NY- --dont know much about the Lk yet--I have only seen it covered w/ about 3 feet of ice --so I dont know if the water is clear or stained or what type of structure is around--the only thing I have been told is that there are alot of Walleye in the lake--I do alot of fresh water fishing-just not for Walleye --because the lakes where I live dont have any Walleye---I was just looking for a few basic pointers--

I would absolutely talk to the baitshops or area tackle dealers. Option 2, if you can afford it hire a guide.
