I was looking for some input in to the Cabela's digital line counter reel. Has anyone used them?

I like the clicker on the drag. I have Diawa reel and the drag alway seem to get bumped and loosen up.

I was at the Cabela's store in East Grand Forks tonight and found 10 - 15 of them in the bargin cave returns. They were all listed as used and looked like it, no other reason. They were listed at $52

After pondering them at the Cabela's store while shopping, one of the sales folks told me to wait and not buy the digital one that's out right now. Not that it doesn't work well. It's just that when the battery goes out in a season or two you actually have to send it in to be replaced. The guy said that even the best reel repair folks they have there couldn't replace one, and that they tried pretty hard. He told me that the new ones will be user friendly, and that they redesigned this reel for that particular reason. Just a heads up!

I bought 2 last spring, returned both within 60 days...the numerical displays went bad.I've replaced them with daiwa, which are a bigger reel size but they work.

Bought two last fall. On second outing one display went bad. Later appeared OK. Called Cabelas and spoke with a customer rep. about replacement parts availability--they said replacement parts are NOT available since they are imported items. Despite liking the feel and features of the reel, I returned them and bought Diawa 27's.

I have not had used these reels. I have several LC27's that have yet to fail me. Been told that the Cabela's linecounter is not very water resistant. (my three cents)

Gosh, I must be one lucky guy. I have two and my father-in-law has two. After 2 years, not one his or mine has failed or given us a problem.

Go figure....

Thanks for the info. I love this measage board for this reason. Its like trying before you spend the cash.

I will stick with my Diawa's for now.

I wish they could inprove the drag. I fish with fusion line and like to set the drag realy loss and put the clicker on so when a fish hits or the crank hit the bottom I can hear it

Thank agian.

Got two about a month ago -- in a combo with their inline rods. Tried them out for the first time last Tuesday fishing for spring salmon in Lk Michigan. Lots of fish so it was a good day to test them.

Unfortunately, the anti-reverse went out on the first fish each reel had on. Both are headed back and I guess I will go with the old reliable Diawa SG27's.

I am real dissapointed since the drag seemed great and I like the feel and size a lot. But, I just don't feel like back reeling that much. ;-)
