delimma with agua-vu

I have an older camera (agua-vu II) and having problems with it. It does not presently have infra-red lighting. Agua-vu said I can upgrade to infra-red lighting during the repair process. My question is if the infra-red is really necessary and worth the extra $50.00 to add on. Since I have never had it, will I use it? When do you use your infra-red and when DON"T you use it? I only use mine at night or in dark water. If you want to see them at night then I'd add it if you don't intend to ever fish at night then I don't think its an option you'll need. Craig
