How is the fishing (bass, walleye, northern) and water quality of this lake? I have checked the DNR site for information but wanted to get some personal info as well. It looks like the large bay on the east next to Hackensack is pretty shallow. Does this bay get weed chocked and full of slop in the summer? Is it just a shallow "muck" bay only good for carp and rough fish? Does anyone catch any fish in this shallow bay? Is it even usable in the summer?

Thanks to all for any information,

Joel B.

I have seen 5-6 pound bass come from this lake every summer. It also has good walleye and panfish. Shady Shores is a nice resort. It is connected to Ten Mile by the Boy River. Ten Mile is one of the clearest and cleanest lakes in the state. It is a great area of the state. You will have a good time. Find Swanson's Bait Shop and drop Jim a line. He could fill you in even better. Good luck and have some fun!

firebird,

Thanks for the reply. Is the waterway to Ten Mile Lake navigable? How big of a boat can you get through it? Does Birch or Ten Mile have any wild rice in them?

Thanks again,

Joel B.

Not really. Don't know about Birch and the wild rice, Ten Mile used to, don't know now. The access to Ten Mile is on the south end of the lake. If you are at Shady Shores, only about 15 minutes away from there.
