I am going to jamaica the 3rd week of April to marry off my daughter, who was born and raised happily in norhtwest ohio. We will a few days of relaxation while we are there and I was wondering if anyone had any info regarding a charter service that might be interested in taking a small group of us fishing.I have no idea on what to expect regarding Price or the type of fish we would be fishing for. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks ollie

We went to Ocho Rios about a month and a half ago.The first time we went,we went through the same thing. My advice to you is to do a little foot work yourself. If you talk with a rep from the place you are staying you will find that you will be paying a lot more for a charter then you need to.Depending on where you go...We go to Ocho...just go down and talk to the captains directly. If you set the trip up with anyone else you are lining their pockets aswell!Tell them what you want, length of charter(1/2 day, full day, etc.)#of people, type of fish and price.Tell them if you want beer, pop, food included. Then barter, barter and barter! We have gone out full days,5 people, case of beer and 12 of pop for $250 total.Good boat, good crew and great fishing.Oh,tell them you actually want to do the fishing...otherwise they put out the lines, set the hook and do most everything else.Me...if Im going fishin' I wanna do it all,not just reel em' in!Hope this helps.STUMP

Thanks for your reply, Stump. If you don't mind I have a few more questions. Can you remember the name of the boat or captain and what kind of fish did you catch? Can you pay with a credit card or is cash better? Any recommendations as to what to fish for this time of year or do you leave it up to the captain?
Thanks, Ollie
