Looking for a decent supply of lead here in MN, obviously for pick up. Where are you guys finding your jig head lead?

For the free stuff, try your local tire dealer for used wheel weights.

Find yourself a plumber, they get it out of old buildings, old water pipes. Also, most of the scrap metal dealers have scrap lead. I get mine from a plumber friend. I have also bought it from a metal recycler in Little Canada, can't remember the name. I found them by just googling scrap lead.

I actually picked some up today from a fellow WC'er and should be good for a while.

Thanks-

Mike came to my shop yesterday and I don't think he realized how much I had. Bidding a house today with lead waste, we get some from time to time.

Thanks again Larry-

Will be making all your lead into little pieces of lead tomorrow! Then I can start the jig process next week. Has anyone used the pro Tech powder paint? I have 9 bottles and am hoping it works!

I use Pro Tech powder paint all the time. Works great, after you have heated your jigs and coated them with the paint, bake them in the oven for about 25 minutes at 225 degrees. The baking will harden that paint so nothing will knock it lose.

Good luck.

PS...clean the paint out of the hook eyes before you bake them...it is almost impossible to get out after you bake them..:exactly:

That is what I use. Been using it for the past 7 years. Make sure you clean the eye of the hook out BEFORE you bake them. I made the mistake by not doing that one time and had to get rid of the jigs. I could not get the eyes cleared out. If you have anymore questions about it, don't hesitate to PM me. You can e-mail me as well:

if you are careful you can avoid getting paint in the jig eyes when you dip them.
