Thanks for the help I guess I will go with the X15.I have the X75 I set my greyline at 38 what would be the best setting for the x15.Also the X15 has some features that I don't understand in the sonar features you can set it for black bottom and fish lock also reverse the grey background. For those of you that have used this I sure could use the help. Thanks Eyeman
Start with auto mode, this will get you close, on the first menu check what levels auto selected, you can adjust the sensitivity and/or the grayline up or down even in auto mode. This gives you a good starting point if you like to switch into the full manual mode. If starting full manual, set a depth range at least twice the water depth, increase sensitivity up till you get a false second bottom, then adjust grayline to eliminate clutter. That's how I do it on the x15mt, maybe someone else has a better way.
parsons ...where are you ?!!

Eyeman- the factory default setting for Grayline is 64%. You might want to crank it up when dealing with a soft muddy bottom. Run the X-15 in manual mode so you can adjust the sensitivity to suit conditions. Max the chart speed. Set your keel offset (How many guys are trolling their plugs at the wrong depth? 1-2' can be a significant difference in the amount of line back depending on the lure's dive curve, especially when near its depth limit.)
"Gray Scale, Reverse Gray Scale, Bottom Black," and "Fish Reveal" are settings to adjust the display. Gray Scale is the default, Reverse Gray Scale will paint the water column black- useful when your dealing with a lot of algae or clutter, etc, in the water. Bottom Black is exactly what it says- paints the bottom part of the screen black which defines the Grayline. Fish Reveal is designed to help show bottom hugging fish by adding more contrast to the Grayline.
You can play with all these settings to your heart's content and see their effects by downloading Lowrance's excellent and free X-15 emulator at http://www.lowrance.com/Software/PCSoftware/emulator.asp
The display settings are in the first layer of the Menu under "Sonar Features" then "Sonar Chart Mode."
You will be an X-15 expert by spring...Have Fun!
