‘TOP 10 CAMP WALLEYE QUESTIONS” 1-14-02
To everyone that we met at both the All Canada Show (St. Charles, Illinois) and the Walleye EXPO in Milwaukee, we would like to extend a very BIG thank you for all of your support!!! Also, this week’s “”Top 10 Camp Walleye Questions” will address your ideas and thoughts.
1.) Question - My family of four is new to walleye fishing and we wonder if Camp Walleye would be too advanced for us?
Answer - Absolutely not – we welcome all levels of anglers and look forward to sharing many of your fishing “firsts” during our camps. Fishing, Camping, and Family – what a great idea!!!
2.) Question - My brother and I will be purchasing a Camp for our 76 year-old father and would like to find out which one you recommend?
Answer - The great thing about the sport of fishing is that it has no age limits. We look forward to hosting many kids as well as many fishing veterans. I know that no matter which location you choose he will have a wonderful and a very safe experience. The warmer weather and the locations with the least distance to travel would be our Lake Of The Woods and Rainy River Camps.
3.) Question - I will be hosting six of my business partners for a long weekend and they are insisting I take them fishing. Help!!!
Answer - I’m assuming that you will need boats and for that reason both the Rainy River and Lake Of The Woods resorts can accommodate your boat needs. You will have the time of your life and your partners will elect you president for this trip idea.
4.) Question - Will the Wisconsin River offer the opportunity to learn more about vertical jigging and the “ins and outs” of how to “slip the current” for boat control?
Answer - Not only will you learn how to “vertical jig” and “slip the current” but you will be learning from the master of both techniques, Daryl Christiansen. Daryl will be our host Pro and he has spent thousands of hours on the Wisconsin River.
5.) Question - Will Ted Takaski be attending either Mille Lacs or Sturgeon Bay? We know Ted and feel like his teaching skills are the best.
Answer - As of today Ted will be the opening speaker for the Mille Lacs Lake Camp. Thursday from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. Ted will share many of his Mille Lacs Lake techniques and experiences during his presentation, which promises to be an exciting Camp. Walleye Central also shares your view on Ted’s ability to teach his skills and we are glad to have Ted’s support.
6.) Question - Is the Detroit River only for “jig fishing” in April?
Answer -Although jig-fishing will be a top producer in April at the Detroit River, we will also be teaching 3-waying, lead lining, Miller rigging, and many other techniques. Don’t think that you won’t catch a lot of fish doing things other than jigging – you will. Just ask Kim “Chief” Papineau. He used a winter fishing pattern last year to place 2nd at the PWT tournament (and “Chief” will be presenting during this camp.)
7.) Question - Is the drive from Madison, Wisconsin to the Detroit River worth it for big fish?
Answer -A 10-pound fish with the opportunity to catch even a 12-pounder would make most people forget the 1 or 2 cramps from 10 hours on the road. For what it’s worth last year at this exact time in April I witnessed over 10 fish exceeding 10-pounds getting caught. Also, during this PWT event, the pro record for a 13-pounder was broken by David Frey. We will save you a place on this incredible trophy river.
8.) Question - Which resort will you be partnering with to host the Wisconsin River camp?
Answer -We are so very glad to have the Chula Vista Resort hosting this Camp. Located between the Upper and Lower Dells, and with access to both, this location is perfect for fishing the Wisconsin River’s walleye and saugers. After fishing, the HOT tubs, indoor water park, and great refreshments will be a great way to spend three evenings after 2 – 3 days on the water. It’s an absolutely beautiful resort - on an absolutely beautiful river!
9.) Question - Will the seminars and presentations take time away from fishing?
Answer - We hope not! The intention to presenting to all of you during meals is designed to give you lots of new ideas from a number of different pros at each camp. Also, we look forward to time on the water and a half-day in the boat with a Pro for the very best in learning procedures. We all like to fish as much as you and I will guarantee many many hours of fishing each day.
10.) Question - How are the resort accommodations and how are the meals?
Answer - We have worked very hard to blend good resorts, good food, and good fishing all into one very good experience. Beginning in February you should be able to check out the resorts on our website by linking to each resort. For now just call either Sonja or myself at (952) 949-1109 and we will answer any questions you might have regarding more specifics about each location.
