I haven't had a chance to ice fish for some years,..MAYBE this year if we ever get some safe ice (I understand this week you guys in the upper midwest will be getting a REAL cold shot from the arctic)
But I was wondering, I have a BottomLine Fishing buddy II that I haven't used much yet,.I also have a Zercom LPG 2000 that I also haven't used,..(see I have time to BUY equipment,..not use it) but I was wondering if either might be useful for ice fishing. The Zercom has a instant feature that acts much like a flasher (so I'm told)

Rickk,

I had the FB III and bought the ice attachment for it as well. The unit works very well when it is warm out, but once the temperature gets into the teens, the unit will start to perform erratic. I used to keep my FB III in my pickup until I had my house up and the heater going, then would transport it to the shack. That worked out very well in the extreme cold, but will not work very well out in the open. The LCD will freeze. One item to try is to turn the light on will make the screen last longer before erratic behavior in the open, but the best was transfer it to a warm shack and will work out good. Since then I upgraded to the FL-8 and now this year to the FL18. I upgraded my bottomline to the Fishing Buddy 2255 this year as well for transporting to other small lakes in Canada. Hope this helps. If not email me for more info.

I thought it might be handy to see if there was much activity around,.not sure I would try to drill a hole over a school or a fish as I imagine they would clear out or be spooked,..but just checking for general conditions.
