I just thought I would remind everyone to top off the batteries that are stored for the season.

Thanks for the reminder TGG. With the help of several folks on this board, I topped mine off about the middle of December and have been storing them outside in the garage since. How often do they need to be topped off? Will they lose their charge quicker if they are kept outside in the garage than if they are stored inside the basement?

Every recommedation I've ever heard is once a month.

Your batteries will retain their charge for a longer period of time if stored unheated vs heated.

Stored in cool 40 and below conditions require toping off every 6 months. If storing them in warmer conditions, top off every two months. Therefore, if topped off before storing them in your garage(unheated)for the winter, they should not need the battery charger until you are ready to hit the soft water in the spring. I have read this here on WC and am following that info along with monitoring my batteries stored in the garage with my multimeter.
