: Developping a System for more Effective Fishing

I would like to know if there are effective strategies that would make better use of the time that I have to fish.
To be more specific, if you are in an area which is marking fish, is it better to:

a)- use a specific presentation (ex: cranks, and all its variables) and work that for some time

b) - vary the presentation (cranks to jigs to spoons etc.) at short intervals

c) your approach

I realize that many other factors come into play, but because I can't fish as much as I'd like to, I would like to think that the the tactics employed were effective.

Thanks,

I would spend more time on a horizontal presentation, such as trolling, that keeps the bait in the strike zone longer versus a vertical presentaion like jigging. Changing baits becomes somewhat speculative in that you have to decide how much time you are going to devote to a certain lure. There are certain confidence baits I will run longer than I would some others simply because of past performance in that set of similar circumstances.

There are times when the fish prefer your approach to be against the wind, but more often than not going with the wind, or quartering it will get the job done for you. This will also make boat, and speed control easier.
