The Sport/fish weighs in about 1500 ibs. I will have a 175 hp Evinrude on it that is about 400 lbs. I plan on installing the Minkota Maxium 24 volt 74 lb thrust. I think the 52 inch shaft for the bow might be long enough. Would the 62 inch be better? Would that be overkill as far as the length?

Thanks Cral

Hey carl, I'm no pro, but I thought this might help you out. I have a 1850 Sportfish and went with the Minn Kota 65 AP with the 60" shaft. I am going to start installing it this afternoon. I have a digital camera and took a few pics of it set up on the boat to see how it is going to work. I can send you them if you want. I think it would really help you decide.

I think you should go with the 62". Once you get into a situation where the waves are acting up you'll be glad you did. I'm sure the difference in price isn't that great. A 62" is definately not overkill. That's a nice boat you bought. Good Luck Fishin'.

Walizz 1, thanks very much. The 62 inch is available on the Maxium series, and 60 inch on the power drive. I am leaning towards the power drive with auto pilot. I agree two inches could make a difference in wind and waves. Thanks for the feedback and I can't wait to get that boat in the water.
