I will be on the Mississippi pool # 10 Memorial Day Weekend in Wyalusing State Park whare the Wisconsin River meets the Mississippi, pool # 10 which extends from Guttenburg Iowa on the south end and north to Lynxville Wisconsin is a large space of water, especially when you include the acess to the Wisconsin River, and I was hoping someone could give me some hot spots to try, and if anyone knows which works better in this area - jigging or crank baits. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated and put to good use.

Thanx,

John

johnnyb....I have fished this area around Memorial Day four times in the last 6 years. Like all rivers the water level will determine fish location and success. I spend the majority of my time below Lock&Dam #9 and #10. These areas provide better structure and greater flexibility for the fisherman. If you have never fished in the pool between the Dams it can be aggravating trying to get on fish. Its the same story between the Dams work the wing dams, eddys, shoreline breaks and points. I have good luck with minnow tipped jigs and the last time Brown/Orange combo Marabou jigs with leechs was effective. I concentrate on casting upstream and swimming the jig back. I lose more jigs this way but if it helps wear out my Fillet knife I dont mind.Fish slow in the pool and cover the area well. At times I will just drift and vertical jig downstrem of wing dams....good producer. have a great time and may you get some nice eyes.
