I'm getting ready to purchase the Maxxum 65 and am looking for some pros and cons on this motor. I seem to be leaning towards the hand control model because the foot pedal seems to large and baulky. If anyone has any experience with these electric motors any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you are only going to jig, or fish with one rod at a time then the hand control is fine. However, I prefer the foot controlled so that I may run two rods from the bow when I'm jigging, or running bottom bouncers. It is simply a matter of your personal choice.
Good luck

I like the foot control. I can re-bait my jig or rig while running the bow motor with my foot. And one of the reasons I am thinking about dumping my MotorGuide for the Maxxum is that the Maxxum has the larger foot pedal. Once you have run one, I think you will find that the larger pedal is easier to "find" with your foot when you have to leave your seat to net your partner's walleye and are trying to re-bait all at the same time. Also, it appears less likely to tip on its side in rough water like mine does.
Just my thoughts. Hope this helps.
