Hi guys,
If you could only put one of these motors on your boat what would it be, bow or transom? Do you think there is more advantage to having a heavy duty transom electric if you have a console boat, to accomidate back trolling better? Or is there so much more versatility with the bow mount that it's the right choice? Thanks, Pikeman

If you are running a console boat I would stay with the bowmount. If you are running a tiller I would suggest a transom mount. Now this doesn't mean I think one or the other is better. It all depends on your fishing style. I like to back into waves to stay on line but some prefer to head straight into them with the bow. Fishing style and techniques will all play a part in your decision. Hope this helps. Good fishing and don't forget to shoot the puck. Mike Peluso #82

My personal choice is to use a bow mount trolling motor. I really like to vertical jig for eyes in river situations and the control a bow mount gives me is faster than a transom mount. This is really subjective though as it all boils down to what YOUR preferrences are.
Good luck

I would look at putting some kind of MinnKota AutoPilot on the bow. kind of spendy but with the long cord and the autopilot function you can still troll.

I used to use both but found that I hardly ever used the motor on the transome but then I don't back troll very much either. It sems to me that a bow mount can do a better job in high winds. When I need to fish from the back I use a kicker gas motor.
