Need some help here. Trying to decide which flasher is better on the ice...any feedback?

I work at my local bait shop as a fishing salesman and I would most indefinetly go with the vexilar! The vexilar three color flasher is so clear so defined I wouldn't use aanything other than a vexilar

Would you buy the flasher that came out this year or the flasher that has been perfecting their locater for twenty years!

I would say the Vexilar for sure. I have have used the unit on the ice and in open water and it is still one of the best machines around. It still amazes me how well flashers can pick up fish and pick up you lure inches from the fish. Without it on ice would be like fishing in a swimming pool. The Marcum came out last year under the name of Zercom.Zercom used Marcum's idea and didn't follow through with after marketing services.
The Vexilar is an AWESOME flasher.I have an FL8 and so does my Dad.The FL18 is a step ahead with the "bottom lock zoom".If you want to get a really good price on one go to their website and buy a refurbished unit with the same warranty as NEW.
Now for the Marcum unit.The price is the same as a Vexilar(FL18).The Marcum's(Zercom color point) from last year had really good visuals.Meaning the led's weren't as bold as the Vexilar's.More definite or fine.I really like the idea Marcum has as far as Not limiting the Zoom area to just the bottom though.You can move your Zoom area up and down the full scale of your sonar area.
The Gander Mountain in my area is getting 3-4 in at a time and there selling as soon as they hit the store.
As for any flasher, 1 thats been around for 20 years or one that came out this year or last year, You need to get out on the ice and play with it for a while.I'm looking at both this year and want to talk to the Marcum guys at the Madison,WI ice fishing show before I buy.
Just so you know the facts,my dad works at a marine and fishing store and he says "GET ALL THE FACTS YOURSELF AND YOU DECIDE".Don't trust anyone.You're the one that has to live with your decision.
