: Electronics interferance

I purchased the new Yar-Craft big tiller late last year. At the time, I only put on the sonar unit in order to put break-in hours on the motor (some of the water was getting shallow here in Nebraska, due to severe drought). However, before I start fishing this year, I want to add a marine radio, and probably a small GPS unit. Remember, on a tiller boat, all electronics go inside a lockable console area. I do have adequate room (with room to spare) in the console, but will having 3 electronic units in that small area cause interferance with each other? Or is interferance a result of how the units are getting their power (i.e. multiple units receiving their power from one supply) as opposed to the physical units themselves sitting too close to each other in a confined area? Thanks for your help!!

Nebrwalleye,
You should have no problems. I don't recommend trolling batteries as the power supply as the trolling motor can cause interference and make sure to tie all of your electronics to one common ground to avoid ground loop interference. I hope this helps.

Jigging 5,

Can you please explain what you mean by "common ground". Do you mean put all the negitive grounds together. I currently run all my electronics off the starter battery, and I have the trolling motors connected to their own batteries. Is there a better way? Thanks.
