I am registered to fish the Lake Sharpe RCL at the end of this month. I have never done a fishing event of this size. As you may have figured, I am a bit nervous. This being a great communications board, maybe some of you guys that have done or are doing this RCL tourney could jot down some of your thoughts for a rookie co-angler. Help a guy out to shake off some of the butterflies.I can't sleep already!
Thanks.

Make sure you go to the FLW website and read and print out a copy of all the rules.
Also - there are 4 or 5 articles written for guys just like us (I'm doing my first RCL at Devil's Lake), print them out also and read when unable to sleep.
Lots of good info to get you started.
I, too, will be asking a few questions on this board as time draws near.
Good Luck.

Just relax. You're just going fishing! Don't lose any sleep over it. ;-)
As the Co-Angler, all you need to do is bring the right clothing for the weather, food, and something to drink for yourself. The Pro will provide all the equipment needed for the day on the water. He/she will ask you if your familiar with a technique, or how well you know the technique, and if you don't know it, they will explain how to do it.
To get some of your jitters settled down, you might want to try getting some prefishing in before the event with one or more of the Pros. The best way to find a ride with one of them is to show up at the launch site in the morning, (early), and see who might be fishing alone that day, and ask them if they would take you. Most will, since your being in the boat allows them more lines in the water, and someone to help them launch the boat.
That way, you can get a chance to use the different techniques that will be used on Sharpe.
Good luck! See you there!

Hi Brian, Don`t worry, The people you will be fishing with are great !! The main thing is to do what they ask of you and don`t be afraid to ask questions and WATCH how they are fishing. This will be my first time at Sharpe and I am looking forward to it. See ya there and GOOD LUCK.

I am registered for the Lake Erie RCL as a Co-angler too(my first). I have the attitude of this "I am there to learn" If I finish at the position of 149 out of 150 I didn't come in LAST. I want to help the pro get to 1st place & get a check if I can. But my position is to learn and have fun.
But on the other hand----I am fishing for practice on my own like a mad man & have GREAT pros scheduled to prefish with ON THE LAKE. SOOOOOO-->PLEASE LORD DON'T LET ME SCREW THIS UP!!!!!!
