I am looking to upgrade my Pro-V to a 19' or 20'. All I have ever had is 2-stroke motors. I have recently heard people having problems blowing up the bigger 4-stroke motors. Can anyone tell me what they would put on??? Right now I'm leaning towards a 2-stroke. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank You!!

If you purchase a four stroke, you will have a tough time going out in you buddy's old two stroke. These big four stroke motors run great and are very quiet. The Yamaha F225 that I run on my Crestliner has been flawless. This is the second one now and I couldn't be happier. The fuel mileage is great comparable to optimax or Ficht but your not dumping twenty dollars worth of oil in every time you fill the gas tank. there isn't any smoke what so ever and when you turn the key, it starts and runs and never stalls. Doesn't mater if it's 90 degrees out or 30 degrees, it runs the same. If you know any pro's in your area that may have one of these, ask he/she if they will take you for a spin. As far as blowing up the motor, I haven't heard of one yet in this area, but as with any machine there is bound to be a few bad ones somewhere. Most of the time, no matter what brand you are talking about, the motor wasn't broke in right or was abused to make it break. These motor companys take the blame to make the customer happy and replace it when they maybe shouldn't have. If you need more Yamaha info, check their web page or e-mail me walleyefs@aol.com. good luck this year in your new boat. Andy Z.
