How do you make tip up lights? Or what kind would you recommend?
Thanks Nate

I've made my own and like everyone eventually does, have now purchased some. I'm not sure how widely available they are, but Rite-Lit makes a nice tip up light. They come in both 1 and 2 AA cell. They run between $8 and $12. I change the battery each season and never had a problem in between. By the way, I got mine from Fleet Farm in Wisconsin.

I have tried several of the LED types that you either buy and add on or they come allready attached to the tipups when you buy it. The are easy to use and the battery life is good.(watch or hearing aid type batteries) The problem is that they don't show up very far off. We will often set tip ups out over a large area and leave them out all night. My buddy made his own lites. He used a white lite and a nine volt transister battery. They showed up very well but they battery life was quite short. Mostly we use reflective tape and a spot lite. With a little practice you can set the tip ups so that the tape only shows when the flag is up and they show up for a long ways. We use polar tipups ussually.
