View Full Version : Just Wondering
This will be the 2nd year that the RCL has been on the ILL. river only days apart from the MWC.
Why is it planned so close together ? The MWC has been doing pretty much the same time frame the last 15 or 18 years..
The river is low and with the amount of boats for Pre Fishing God only knows how this is gonna turn out..

Wondering
The water levels are back up towards normal stage from what I hear. The same thing as last year is not likely. There will be more people on the water but the fishery is very sound. I really think this will be a great year on the river, much better bite than last year. I do think it is a shame that they are that close together. The cream will still rise to the top when it is all said and done, so we will have have to make the best of the situation!
Hope that all can get along and do the right thing by not crowding each other. MWC anglers should get some right away during there event! Just hope that the big guys see it that way! I can't wait, its gonna be along couple of months here.

Last year at the RCL I watched the DNR load all the fish in a big tank. I was told that they were striped of their eggs and then hatched. They grow them to fingerling size then release them back in the river. Is this true? If it is this river can only get better. Just Wondering.

Yes, and they do that for the MWC event too. I'd say it's the best Sauger fishery in the Midwest if you were to ask me.

Emoo,
I agree. Sure would have preferred the event take place the following week. Consider 200-210 boats for the MWC, along with 150+ prefishing the RCL, which starts two days after, plus any locals fishing, the potential is there for over 400 boats on the river during the MWC Tournament!!
I believe the RCL pre-fishers will respect the MWC'ers enough to give them space, not crowd a hot bite, avoid following the Day 1 top teams, and give them the necessary right of way through an area they are fishing. Whether it be pulling upstream or jigging down.
Also, spread the word to please IDLE through the clam beds or any other pack of boats.

JB I agree with everything you have stated.. The RCL Clan ( lady's & gentlemen ) will be watching every move we make ( MWC ).....
I only hope this YEAR they will give us the previlge of letting us make our pass to fish and not CROWD us as last year doing their prefishing..
I RESPECT other Tourny anglers and their WATER and only try to get the same respect back....
Come on MARCH Moo can't wait........
