We will be posting further details soon, but I wanted to get this info out now so people are aware of 3 open / team / fun tournaments being held on Lake Erie this summer.
Sat May 22 - Port Clinton Schools Athetic Booster Club Fundraiser. Two divisions - 1 to 3 anglers per team in one division and 4 - 6 anglers anglers per team in other division. Legal Limit of rods (2 per angler per Ohio Law). Entry fees will be $20 per person per team. 50% of entry fees will go to the Booster Club. Payout of the remaining 50% of the entry fees will be made to the top 3 teams in each division based on combined weight of the 5 largest fish. (Blow date will be June 12). Weighin will be at Lakeview Park Pavillion in Port Clinton (across from public beach) at a time to be announced. Takeoff will be on the honor system no earlier than 7:30AM.
Saturday June 19 - Western Basin Sportfishing Association - Open Tournament. (blow day Sun June 20) Lorain, Ohio - Black River Launch (not Hot Waters - about a mile up river - VERY NICE LAUNCH with pavillion for weighin / cookout afterwards) Entry Fee $150 per team. Team can have up to 6 anglers but the number of rods is limited to a maximum of 6 rods per team. 80% payback to 15% of the field. Optional Big fish $25 per team with 100% payback on big fish. Weight of 5 fish determines winners.
Sat Oct 9 - 2nd annual Huron Tigers Athletic Booster Club Fundraiser. Huron Boat Basin. Will be similar to last years event where we raised over $3700 for the kids in Huron and paid out over $4000 to the anglers. Details for this one to be worked out later in the year - debating on two divisions or just one division and limiting rods to max of 6 per boat which is my current preference. (blow day Sun Oct 10)
All three tournaments will be harvest tournaments (per Ohio DNR) with no dead fish penalty. Teams will have the option to donate fish to a group that is collecting fish to fillet for a Veteran's home and a Children's home.
