The Gander Mountain GNWC national championship on Lake of the Woods/Rainy River in October is filling up fast. We will accept up to 120 teams, 15 from each of the eight divisions. Since some divisions do not have 15 national teams, we will take them from the states that have extra. To be a national team, you must declare that you are a national team before fishing the first event in your region, and put $100 in the national pot.
The Skeeter Boats National Championship features a first place guarantee of $10,000 cash and two Skeeter boats rigged with Yamaha outboards, Lowrance electronics and Minn-kota trolling motors and batteries among other goodies. These two boats are rigged and ready to fish. Total prize package for first place is over $56,000 guaranteed.
The Gander Mountain GNWC is now the largest walleye tournament circuit in the nation in terms of numbers of anglers and numbers of events.
Right now we are just about to lock in our 120th National team, it will probably happen this weekend. A great opportunity here, if you have not signed up as a national team and are interested in fishing the national championship, you'll never have a better chance to make it. You need to pay the national fee before fishing the first tournament in your division and fish all four.
As it stands right now, three divisions are locked in: Illinois with 9, the Great Plains and Ohio with 11 each. That's all they get since the national entry is closed in those divisions. As of this writing, Michigan has only 8, but I think we will get close to 15 in that state as the first tournament approaches. South Dakota and Wisconsin are sitting at 15 each, Minnesota at 17 and the remainder are in Iowa (just under 30 so far).
We are going to have a great representation from each of the states at the national this year, and you might as well be one of them. If you can make all four tournaments in your division, I would suggest you become a national team since your chances of making the national are going to be about 90% or better. If you have questions, feel free to call me at 800-890-3474 or e-mail: info@walleyecup.com. You can find more info about the GNWC at www.walleyecup.com.
