Looking for what everyone uses for Lake Erie smallmouths in late April & May.

we use tubes and blade baits. If bite is off we will troll cranks and cover alot of ground till we find 'em then go back to the others. The thing that I have found on Erie that is key is determining depth. Once we find the depth we will use tubes if ther is good drift and wave action and if it is calm we will use the blades.

Bob,

Best lure for April and May on Erie is tube jigs with 3 1/2" salty tubes. My favorite colors are Smoke/Red Flake, Gobe, Smoke/Salt & Pepper. Good Fishing.

You need to remember these two colors...Dark Green with black and gold fleck. Also melon with black fleck. Don't be afraid of 3/8 and heavier tube heads, and don't be afraid to use "flipping" sized or magnum sized tubes.
