Couple of updates for those of you considering the tourney.

The "dead fish" penalty has been reduced from .5 to .2 pounds by overwhelming complaint. I wonder how the RCL does it. ;)

We have $950 donated in extra cash and have many other commitments thus far for more cash and added prizes. I'm only counting money in the door thus far.

We’d like to thank the Logan Lodgers, American Home Furnishings and ABQ Sportfishing for their generous contributions.

Looking forward to a great tournament and all around great weekend. The weather looks to be on average cooler than last year so hopefully that trend will hold. The fishing has been great at Ute all year and the Walleye are no exception.

We’d also like to send a special thank you to Bill and Mona Rutter for organizing the weigh-in and also getting us a place for the rules meeting. Be sure to stop in at the Tackle Box for bait, ice and the most current information on where the fish are, Bill or Mona will be happy to help you out.

Don’t forget that early registration will save you $50 on your entry fee and we are also waiving the HDW membership dues for the first year because we are only hosting the one tournament.

If you need more details shoot me an email or post here.

Thanks,

Mex,

Here in Missouri we don't penalize for dead fish, but reward .1 lb. for each live release. 5 fish is a team limit, so that's a potential 1/2-pound swing. Seems to work well.

I've heard Wyoming used to do that as well.

The community we are fishing in is mostly concerned with the impact a tournament will have on their fishery. With this being the first year and scheduling kind of screwed up, I'm concerned with the impression we are trying to make. Future tournaments will be held at a better time of the year and coordinated with surrounding organizaations so as to not conflict, this year with a new arrival at the house and the other schedules, it was difficult.

The adding for live fish or taking away for dead is sort of like offering an incentive for early registration vs. a penalty for late registration. ;) It all depends on how you look at it.

Thanks,
