View Full Version : Number of PWT Pros fishing Bull Shoals down

If you look at the initial leader board on the PWT website, there are only 116 pros on the board. Then if you examine further, you will see that there are only 55 touring pros fishing all six. I say this because boat number 56 is western division leader Dave Anderson.
The two touring pro names missing from the Bull Shoals leader board, when compared to the current(6-23-04, 11:15AM CST) Angler of the year standings are Cheri Schulta and Tim Minnema. This may be a mistake, but it's based on what I see currently on the PWT site.
Anyone know why the number of touring pros keeps dropping? Financial reasons? Personal reasons?

I believe Gary Gray dropped out of one side due to personal reasons. Don't want to start a rumor though. I know he frequents the site and can confirm but I don't think he is in Arkansas right now.

Last I knew they were about 6 amateurs short of a full field...
Cut Payback
06-27-2004, 05:58 AM
I just returned from fishing the PWT at Bull Shoals, What a great fishery. The only thing I don't understand is why they cut the purse paybacks to us. When we got our checks they were all short by app. $200 bucks. When the year started the fields were full and the entries were payed for the last event. The people that dropped out for what ever reason did not get a refund on their entry so the money was still there. But the PWT still cut the payouts. WHAT GIVES. They say it's because they had to drop Am's when the Pro's dropped out and refund their money, but I also was told they were short Am's. I fished the RCL in Oahe and they had 145 instead of 165 and still got a full pay check. I think I know where I'm going to fish from now on. The PWT is only interested in the bottom line and not the fisherman.

I had to drop from the Chamberlin PWT, due to family emergency, so I fished Cass, the, then dropped to to the East division. I fished Cass after dropping, just in case we ever return. I took the Bull Shoals PWT off, so I could complete the dental work that I have been having done, instead of it taking a full yr doing it part time.
Ya, I wished I was there, but it was also nice to just relax.

Increase entry

You forgot to mention they increased the entries this year to $1400 on top of the decreased payouts for Bull Shoals!

There were enough AMs to fill the slots. In fact several inquires were made for last minute entry by Ark Ams to get in, but since there were 4 Pro slots to drop out for various reasons the field had only 116 boats. Also, the Corps was dropping the lake 6in a day and that made it difficult to target and get the really big fish to bite.

You couldn't any more wrong about the PWT. I fished the RCL from the beginning up until this year. The RCL pails in comparison to the PWT. I quit after experiencing first hand how little the RCL is concerned about the fisherman. But don't take it from me, just compare the pro list at Oahe this year vs. Devils Lake or any other site from last year. You will find that a tremendous amount of top pro's have left for the same reason. Sure they'll fill it next year. It's all about demo boats on the water for potential buyers (co-anglers) not about a series of tournaments that are ran in a profesional manner.

Boy are you wrong! Just check the list yourself, other than the conflict on the driving time between the events and pre-fishing the same pro's are still fishing. And I mean the real pro's that try to make a living at this sport are fishing. You must have some other motive to your post, and from what I hear just wait until next year when the RCL announces it's foremat. Then we'll see how many fishermen that can fish it will. The PWT also says they will drop their fields to 100 for next year. If they keep dropping the numbers, perhaps they will have a full field yet. Good luck and good fishing.
