The PWT Championship was held on that chain of lakes a few years back. I believe Ron Seelhoff was the winner.
Mendota and Waubesa are the better walleye lakes (IMHO). Monona has walleye too, but is best known for bass and muskie. Further down the chain is Kegonsa, another fine walleye lake. The WI DNR says Kegonsa has more walleye/acre than any of the other lakes.

Mendota has the size and good quantity the limit is 3-18" or over. The rest of the chain would be Monona, Waubesa and Kegonsa have a 5-15" and over. I beleive it was Waubesa that has the largest population. Most of the PWT pro's fished Mendota for the 3 big fish and then went to Waubesa to finish out their limit. Ron Seelhoff fished Waubesa and won by trolling I think it was a chrome and blue fat rap? The chain recieves a lot of pleasure boat traffic in the summer months also a lot of fishing pressure year around. You can go to Mendota, Monona, Waubesa and Kegonsa by boat they are all connected thru the "locks" and channels.

I agrre with the other posts. I spend a lot of time on the lakes and all have a decent waleye population. If you are looking for big fish, concentrate on Mendota. For numbers hit Waubesa or Kegonsa. you can get from Waubesa to Kegonsa whne the water is up or in a smaller boat.
If you like a good combination of walleye and smallmotu, Mendota and Monona have a great population of smallies.
Are you from the area or new to the area?
