Just wanted to let people know how my first meeting went.
Very nice bunch of guys and gals. There was a really big turnout in my book. A few fellows spoke about local concerns on possible plans of usage of part of an old steel plant, and a knowledgeable fellow that worked for the government in some capacity, although I'm not really sure what he does) gave a presentation on funded plans for parks along the river (no boat launches or fish cleaning stations, but we did get his promise that he would work on those).
Ebijack took me around and I met a few people, it was a little hard because the place was packed and the presentation and q&a period went a little longer than expected. Jim Barta (local pro, please forgive me if I got your name wrong!) was setup to do a demonstration on jig making, but things were running late so it didnt happen. A few raffles, and the night was over. Did meet a few WC guys, and I ran into 3 old fishing buddies I used to hang out with all the time and have been meaning to call. Didnt know they belonged to the club, but it didnt suprise me! Also a fellow who used to dock his boat next to mine at Brest Bay Marina. Real nice catching up with those guys!
All in all it was a good time. I encourage any one sitting on the fence to join. I'm sure as time goes by, I will learn a lot from all the folks here!
Thanks again Ebijack for being a great host, and to all the DWF folks.
