Cass lake is a beautiful lake that is crystal clear. The lake in my opinion has gone from a day bite lake to a night bite lake. If we have a normal spring you should be able to find fish during the daylight hours. I mostly always use lindy rigs and leeches. At night I troll Rapalas's and kill them. Hope it helps.

I fish Cass a couple times a summer and my good friend fishes it at least once a month. The times you are going the river mouths produce lots of fish. That is where most of the crowds will be as well.
I agree-night time is best. Be SURE to be on the water 2 hours before sundown. We take 90% of our fish within a one hour timespan.
When we first fished the lake, we hired a guide name Cam. He was pretty good. Lots of experience for eyes and musky on Cass. That was about 5 years ago-but I am sure that he is still guiding there.

Hey, fellow Show-Me guy, be sure to try the edges of the reefs on the north side of the Potato Islands in Allen's Bay during the morning hours. Floating jig/leech has gotten me a lot of nice early-season fish there over the years. Also, the l-o-o-o-n-g points off Star Island are great for evening casting--keep your boat over 20-30 feet of water and follow the contour, pulling diving cranks off the top and sides of the shallow bar. Awesome lake system--good luck!
