Mille Lacs Fishing Regulations Question

Does anyone know the restriction on fishing hours for Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota. I recall last year that there was no fishing during hours of darkness up until a certain date. I would like to plan an outing there after the restrictions are lifted so we can do some night fishing as well. Does anyone know the date? Thanks!

The 2002 regulations are not out yet. Licenses run March to March. Keep an eye on the DNR site:

The night ban always goes into effect the Monday after the opener. (Allowed to fish at night for the first 2 days of the season) and is USUALLY pulled the Second Monday in June. So I'd GUESS that it would be pulled June 10, 2002.

One other point: The night ban, while in effect, starts at 10:00 PM each night.

The day bite has been and should continue to be excellent. Plus, that time between 8:30 and 9:50 each evening is a fun time with a flurry of fish comming to the boat. I would not let the ban dictate your plans.

Bad Finger is correct - in 2001, the night ban was lifted at 12:01am June 11. Assuming the 2002 regs are consistent with what they have been in the past, the 2002 night ban will be lifted 12:01am June 10.

Just one more thing to keep in mind....

The slot (or the plan to limit the white mans harvest)has not been set. A total elimination of night fishing or an extension into July or August of the night fishing ban could be considered as one tool to limit harvest.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

I picked up the 2002 MN regs from Gander Mountain the other day. The ban is from 10 pm on May 13 until 12:01 am on June 10.
