My best fishing partner Willie (wiiilber)is a black lab, Willie always lays in the front of the boat where his hair is inbeded into the carpet. I have tried a power vac, a power washer but I can not get the hair out. What can I do????? I have heard that anti-static spray will repell it but not get it out.????

Have same fishing partner....
Go get a big roll of 2 inch wide masking tape. apply tape to area with hair and remove. The tape will pull all the hair out the Vaccuum misses.

I too use tape for my pooch. I use the clear packing tape that is like 2 1/2 inches wide, wrap it around my hand and just keep dabbing the area. It does take some time but you wouldn't beleive how much you pick up doing this. I will have to try the masking tape. Just roll it out sounds a lot easier.

Don,
I have a golden retriever that is very liberal in sharing his hair, in fact my brother swears that the cure for baldness is in this dog's genes. I have blue carpet in both my boats so the golden hair shows up quite well. One trick I have found to get the bulk of the hair out is to put on a leather chore glove and run your hand across the carpet, this seems to ball the hair up and it is much easier to clean. I usually then finish with one of those pet hair rollers which is the same as using masking tape like the previous posts. Gotta love fishing with a dog.
Take care and good fishing,

Geez, I'd sure like to help you with this dog hair removal problem, but to do that I'd have to make horrible, honest statements.
I've been telling my wife for the past three dogs we've owned that "these dogs don't shed."
The last time around, she also asked, "Is this little black Labrador puppy going to grow big?"
"Naw! They're not big at all," I replied.
A hundred pounds of Lab later, she's not exactly buying my size estimates of dogs anymore.
And since most of my own hair has deserted me and the rest has turned gray, she isn't buying it so well that those black hairs in the carpet are mine, either. -- mark

Another Lab named willy, I have an 11 month old Choclate that is tipping the scales at 95# named Willy, he's gonna be a biggun, the fiance was using duct tape this past summer for his hair, we also rented a steam cleaner from Walmart a couple of times, thats gets quite a bit, the tape works good in hard to reach areas.

My golden "Quila" has taken over the couch. We remove her hair with a soft rubber rake/squiggie. It has little nubbies on the bottom. We it bought at the home/garden show a couple years back.
For our cloths we use the lint removers which are just tape on a roll with a handle. Works great. My 2 yr old son gives me a cleaning before work everyday.

I used to have a pair of Basset Hounds and there semi wire hair was a bugger on carpets when they shed. At one time I had 23 Bassets, so hair became a issue fast, Ha!
I got one of those sticky roller deals that they advertise on TV, worked great. Roll over the carpet and rinse the deal off, no problem.
You may be able to find them at Ben Franklin stores or at Wally World (Wall Mart)?
Ask you vet about your dogs diet, you may be able to improve the hair shedding by changing the food or adding more vitamins to his diet? Dog shampoo's with skin conditioners may help some too. Fish oils help, but too much oil and hair won't be the only thing on the boat carpet!

The pro interior car cleaning companies use a heavey duty FABRIC SOFTENER first, then use a strong vacum or extra sticky tape. The softener lossens up the fabric, and allows the hair to come out easyer. A bud of mine tried this on a used vehicle that he purchased from a friend that had a short haired dog, and the majority of the hair did come out. Good luck... it's never an easy task.

Have a golden retriever. I use a broom that is actually made of short rubber bristles. Takes out all the hair with very little effort.

That rubber brush works wonders. I just got one at Menard's for 10.50 came back to work (where my boat is) tried it, and it worked slick, sweep into an area then take the tape to pick it up and your done.
One sweep duluxe (as seen on TV)

Here is what we use in our boat, truck and home and that is one of those cheap tape rollers that has a small handle on it. You can buy them at Wall Mart or K Mart. Really does wonders picking up that Black Lab hair.
