Curious if this section of L. Mich. has poor walleye numbers. There has never been a large walleye tournamant in the Milwaukee,Wi area.

You are correct in assuming that this area does not have a good population of walleyes. Walleyes For Tomorrow has been working with the DNR for several years now to bring back the river walleyes in that area. There are some big fish being caught from the planting but unfortunately too many people are taking these big fish out of the system before a large enough population can develope. The last estimate I read was that there were 1,000 adult fish swimming in the area and a lot more are needed to see spawning success.

Too may people are being impatient and taking fish now instead of letting them populate for good spawning brood.

The Milwaukee chapter of Walleyes For Tommorrow has held it's fund raiseing banquet the last few years on the 15th of March at Serb Hall. They use all funds to raise alot of 10" fish that are released.Their is a fair amount of fish present but not what I would consider a enough to hold a tournament their. For more info contact Gene: milwaukeeriver@aol.com
