Yes, it's me again looking for lake information. Interested in fishing (bass, northern, and walleye), and water clarity/quality information. How is the lake for swimming? I have checked out the DNR report but wanted some personal information. Is there any wild rice in this lake?

Thanks to all for any information,

Joel B.

I have fished Woman a couple of times and it is a beautiful lake. Fishing can be awfully tough though. Swimming seems to be fine from what I saw of others and I didn't see any wild rice but I can't be sure so you should wait for more replies on that subject. Water is clear and we had so-so luck trolling wally divers along the shore. To be honest, it was so ##### hot up there in early June the fishing wasn't that great. We stayed at Greenroof lodge (where you gas up) and it is a nice place.
Good luck and have fun.

Joel,

Still lookin' eh? I'm on Belle Taine and have fished Woman a few times. It really is a good walleye lake - not size but numbers. Never been skunked on her, can't say that about many lakes.

I particularly like the fall bite on this lake. I hear there are muskies in this lake. I have never seen one however I did see a 20lb plus Northern pulled from her.

It is a pretty lake and would not mind having a place on her. I understand that you can get to other lakes via Woman but I have never tried. My best luck has been real close to one of the accesses, so there has been no need to go far. (I know I didn't say which access)

Good Luck!

How's the bass fishing? Ever see any wild rice?

Thanks,

It's a clear lake which is tipically good for a night bite. We did well trolling rapalas along shore on opener. Also slip bobbers at night using lighted bobbers there is a creek that comes in on the west end that is good fishing shallow. I caught a limit one night right off the dock at Woman Lake Lodge-- real sandy area there. Get the redtail minnows if available or rainbows. There are crappies and small mouth in the Girl lake area on the way to the Muni in Longville by boat, I know the way there but did'nt bother with the bass in the reeds. Get a hotspot map for the lake and scope out the areas I mentioned and good luck.

My wife's family place is on Woman and I like the lake a lot. There is wild rice - in the channel between Broadwater Bay and the main lake as well as a tiny but deep bay that can be accessed through a channel from the NW side of Broadwater.

I have had my share of skunkings on Woman and I agree with some of the other posts - I have had the best luck after dark. But, I have caught a limit on a dead calm day in August in 15 feet of water too. There is tons of structure.

Woman has a good reputation for Muskie size but not numbers.

I have done some bass fishing on the lake with most of my success there being along the weedy north shore of Broadwater Bay or better yet, in Girl Lake. Girl Lake is easily accessed through a channel and if the water isn't too low, Child Lake can be visited through the river channel that ends in Bungey Bay.

I haven't done much dedicated pike fishing but I always seem to pick them up when I'm fishing walleyes. Especially if I'm using spinners later in the year.

For swimming, it can't be beat. It is extremely clear and depending on where you are, not very weedy.

With the access to Girl Lake and an irregular shoreline, it is a decent lake for boatrides too. It "rides" like a much bigger lake.

It is a great destination if you have kids - there are turtle races in Longville every Wednesday from Memorial day to Labor Day. You can rent a turtle right at the race site.

Have you ever caught any of the silver pike in Belle Taine. I have heard that they are in there, but have only fished the lake a couple times. Heck, if the water comes up much more we might be able launched right off of 34.

Thanks,

Charlie
