Do any of you know how many cubic inches there are in a gallon?? I'm trying to figure out the capacity of my built-in fuel tank on the boat. I bought it used and the owner had no clue. I can get the dimensions of the tank. There are no tags on the tank, no owners manual. I want to avoid emptying it out or running it out if I can.
Help?

I beleive it is 231 cubic inches or close enough to get you there. It could actually be a little higher. Measure the dimensions HxWxD of a milk jug and multily for the cubic. Then take your tanks total cubic inches and divide by the milk jug total. This will give you a pretty good idea. Error on the side of less for peace of mind. :-)

Divide the volume of the tank in cubic inches by 231 which will give you the tank volume in gallons. (1728 Cubic inches / Cubic FT)x (1 Cubic FT / 7.48 gallons) = 231 Cubic inches / gallon.
