Well all, not sure how to do this without getting nuked. So I will try without giving the link to their website. As of yesterday there was 20 spots left in this tournament being held July 1st & 2nd in Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada. If you want more information you can probably find their website or contact the Slave Lake Chamber of Commerce for more details. I figure this is likely the biggest tournament ever held in Canada for walleye and thought that the more people who know about it the better the event will be and the greater the likelyhood that it will be an annual event. Good luck to any and all that participate.

I can't wait for this years tourney. Had a fun time at last year however we didn't do as well as we were hoping. I believe 32lbs-33lbs combined 2 day weight(8 walleye) was the winner.
As mentioned in another thread the rule of 100 feet distance between boats can become on issue. Lesser Slave is a large lake but if the lake turns rough and it often does you will find 200 boats all fishing the same spots. I'm not a fan of boats coming too close especially when i'm anchored but i feel 100 feet is fairly large. Is this normal for tourneys?

Hey Folks, great forum! Not only largest... $100,000.00 is the first place prize, there is almost a $250,000.00 with a payout to 30th place based on a full field. As of yesterday only 20 spots remain. Its going to be a great weekend celebrating angling and Alberta's 100th Birthday!

“Centennial” Anglers Cup, Lesser Slave Lake, Slave Lake, Alberta Canada
What started last year, as a small 100-boat tournament has become one of Canada’s largest live release walleye tournaments offering almost a Quarter Million in prizes.
Not to mention the $100,000.00 FIRST PLACE prize.
Check for eligibility by calling (780) 849-3222 and/or grab your entry off the web at www.anglerscup.com.
Entry fee is set at $1,000.00 CDN and the field of 200 boats is almost full.
The Slave Lake & District Chamber of Commerce hosts its Alberta Centennial Celebration on July 1st and 2nd. Slave Lake is located 2.5 hours north of Edmonton, Alberta.
Lesser Slave Lake is 70 miles long and offers an incredible Walleye fishery. This big water lake can see some significant wave action, so the tournament boundary is about 17 miles from the launch and about 10 miles wide. Presently walleye are plentiful and are easily caught. The Anglers Cup regulations state a 51 cm fish is the minimum length that can be brought into the weigh in. A four fish per day limit meets tournament regulations and total weight of 8 fish over the two days puts the Top 30 teams into the money.
Angler Registration is June 30, 2005 at 3:30 pm at the Curling Rink. Anglers and volunteers can enjoy a feast of “Beef on a bun” served Slave Lake style. After which comes the mandatory Rules Meeting.
Fishing starts July 1st with the first flight leaving The Point Marina at 6:00 am. Come and watch the parade of boats leaving The Point Marina and then the big send-off after the National Anthems are played.
Spectators can take part in the casting competition for young and old alike on the Friday and Saturday on the lawn of The Point Steakhouse. Top scorers of this fun event take home great prizes from some of the generous sponsors.
Final weigh-in starts at 3:00 pm for the first flight and the last flight boats’ fish will be weighed by 6:00 pm. Then off to the Curling Rink for an evening of fun including a steak supper and an awesome comedian. On Saturday the flights reverse and leave the marina at 6:00 am. The FINAL weigh-in starts at 1:00 pm on the PolarKraft Stage so come and take in this exciting weigh-in and cheque & boat presentation. Thirty places of paid winners!
The top thirty teams take home some major cash prizes (based on a full field). Sponsor Karl Gongos, representative of Whitecap Motors and Recreation, will present a nice cheque for $10,000.00 to the 4th Place winners. 3rd Place finishers get a $20,000.00 cheque from major sponsor Billy Lukan of the “The Point Steakhouse & Marina”. PolarKraft’s Derwin Repchuk, also a major sponsor of this event will present the 2nd place finishers with a fully rigged Tournament Fishing Boat Package valued at over $35,000.00 and a cheque for $5,000.00. Our volunteer tournament Chair and Co-Chair representing the Slave Lake and District Chamber of Commerce will present the 1st Place finishers with their Cheque for $100,000.00 for the Grand Finale!
After the photo shoot of all the Winners & Volunteers, everyone is invited to the Arena in Slave Lake to partake in the weekend’s wrap-up “Homecoming” supper and dance.
For an exciting adventurous weekend join us in Slave Lake, Alberta Canada.

Finished up the tournament yesterday and it was very well run and an enjoyable time. I think the final number of teams was 196 and one of the sponsors kicked in the last $4000 to make it a full payout. I'm sorry but I don't know which sponsor it was. The water was pretty rough the second day but other than some seasick people there were no problems that I heard of. I hope they have it again next year.

Hey Everyone, thank you Anglers for making this tournament a resounding success! You treated organizers and volunteers incredibly. From the early morning boat check, the can-can girls on the corner of the marina bidding good tidings to the departing anglers, to the wiegh in and final presentations, you could not ask for a better way to spend a weekend. Anglers bragged that they were catching over 200 walleye a day looking for the biggest to bring in. Some concerns were expressed over how hungry the walleye appeared and the strong year class slightly under the tournaments regulations, but this made for a great competition.
Sponsor Karl Gongos of Whitecap Motors & Recreations stepped up to the plate and gave generously on top of his already major sponsorship the final $6000.00 to complete the prize package. Thank you Karl. Godfrey Marine -Polarkraft gave the second place finishers an awesome Boat, Mercury Motor and Trailer package. And not to mention the work Billy Lukan did at the incredible Point Steakhouse and Marina to prepare for the 200 boats. Designex.net sponsored the website,(www.anglerscup.com)check it out for updates and gallery pictures from the tournament as they get posted over the next week. There is an incredible video of the shotgun start from the helicopter!
Congratulations to Richard and Robert Kallbom, father and son team, from Whitecourt, Alberta for the 25.96 lbs. to take home the check for $100,000.00.
Once again, thank to all who participated and attended this largest paying sporting event in Canada. To those of you who missed it... see you next year!
