Looking to upgrade from manual planner board reels and manual downriggers to electric. Big Jon units are higher priced than the Riviera units, looking for feedback on both models. Thanks for your help.

kinda,
i have been running the big jon electric downriggers for seven years.
i am taking them from the boat i am selling to another new boat this year. they are the best. i use them alot and they are solid. big jon has the best service and parts department. only time i have needed them to service was due to negligence.

I would vote for Big Jon. Reason being is that you don't see Riviera's distributed as much as you used to. Thus, if you need parts, they are harder to come by. Both are good riggers, though.

Howdy,

I also second Big Jon. Although the Riveras are fine units as well. Actually, I have my current Big Jons up for sale, (pro staff program)check the classifieds here under Michigan. I have a pair that are virtuually new and with many options, save ya some dough.

I will have downriggers on the next boat, and you know what ones I will run again.

Have fun......R

To get parts for a Riviera downrigger you simply go to the website, and there is an exploded parts list that you can pull down there. Pick out which part you need, and call to order. No problem!

Good Luck
