OK, we let it run it's course... listened to both sides and heard from some of the fringe.

Some very good points on both sides.

I vote to keep it just like it is. I have never been in favor of "registration only" because I don't think that is the answer.

I think the users of this forum and all forums on Walleye Central are part of the solution.

Use the "alert" link located at the bottom of every post. If something is out of line or you just think it needs another look, alert us so we can pinpoint problems immediately.

Moderators... that is the only real solution in my mind.

Even if we went to a registered only format we would have people registered under pseudo names and they would still cause trouble and moderators would have to clean up the mess... Registration is not the answer.

The end user has a responsibility to alert us when things go "south" and Moderators do the best they can to keep things civil, to the point and on track.

Anyway.... that is what I ended up with...just so you know.

After all the replies (well...the good ones) I think you did the right thing.

There were some really good ideas, but short of hiring a staff, taking personal info, storing it, loosing it, selling it, having it stolen (the list goes on from the Sarbanes Oxley law) it isn't worth.

Now I gotta get back to jerkin' my knee. ;)

I think the formula works fine the way it is.

We have lots of traffic, they dont seem to go away. We cant please everyone.

I think we should offer Bob Oh's thick skin kits in the products section for those who get upset too easily. ;)
