Just got a call, that day three has been called due to high winds.

Has to be a tough call after a blow day on day two, but glad to see the PWT judge on the side of safety.

That's kinda hard to beleive. It almost seems like the PWT should have a provisional day to at least make the event a 2 dayer. Hardly seems like a qualifier weighing one days catch. Maybe they shouldn't fish the Great Lakes?
Anyways, congrats to Dave Van Oss and the other cash checkers, just wish you could have have three days to amass a basket.

I'm sure the hotels had the rooms spoken for since it's a holiday weekend. Hotels don't book "maybe I'll be here one more night".

A provisional day is easier said than done.

I like seeing the tourney directors err on the side of the anglers safety. Good call PWT.

so what? just book the room for an extra day, pay the $100 if you use it not. I cant think it would matter to those guys at that level.

they do it in other sports.

they have already spent a lot lot of time and trouble and money to get there, why not build in a blow day.

I'll be the first to compliment them not sending out the contestants, however given that they have their events planned on Wed, Thurs and Friday there is no reason that a blow day can't be figured in.

So what happens at the scheduled weigh in today, while 80% of the contestants are on there way home? The spectators are gonna be on the edge of their seats with the supspense.

Brian, I tend to agree with you but then I remember there are still people that won't get into the "big fish" pots in tournaments. They plan on $xx for lodging, $xx for meals, $xx for gas, $xx for bait , and that's all they have (or are willing ) to spend.

Besides, I like to have the hotel room for the night of the final day. I don't have to have all my stuff packed that morning and can get a good night's sleep before heading home from wherever

Do you seriously think one days lodging cost would make a difference to these anglers? I think not. AND, as an Am (co-angler) wouldn't ya feel just a little bit ripped off for paying 6-700 hundred dollars for one day of fishing? A figured in blow day, especially with the Wed-Friday format is a no-brainer. Might screw up the schedule for the host but hey, they made their money anyways.

How about a big Congrats to Mr. VanOss guys! 1 Day, 2 Days, 3 Days? Who cares, he put it together and deserves the win! It's not the time or place to discuss length of tournaments!
Good Luck

Call or write your tournament director, go to the meetings and express your feelings, This guy just put together a program to win a tournament and the only thing the internet is good for is to bash the system. You make the call. Maybe a blow day would be a good idea maybe not, maybe the tourney should be only one day long (for many reasons) maybe not! Lets give credit where credit is due don't ya think?
Good Luck
