BRENT BEITELSPACHER AND CORY JUENEMAN/COLIN BEITELSPACHER WIN 2005 TEAM OF THE YEAR HONORS IN THE LOWRANCE SPONSORED PRO TEAM WALLEYE CIRCUIT.
Casper, WY -- Cory Jueneman of Mobridge, SD and Brent Beitelspacher of Gettysburg, SD won Team of the Year Honors with 348.009508 points, just ahead of Rick Walter and Bruce Brugger of Casper, WY with 334.263 points. Team of the Year was decided at Shoshoni’s Boysen Reservoir where the team of Brent Beitelspacher and Colin Beitelspacher brought in a basket of six fish that weighed 15.35lbs and put them in a 7th place finish at the tournament. This was just enough to propel the team to 84.210526 points for their finish at Boysen during the Lowrance Sponsored Pro Team Walleye Circuit’s “Lowrance Open” this past weekend.
There were many teams competing for the Team of the Year Title in this, the second year of the Lowrance sponsored Pro Team Walleye Circuit. Each team is awarded points based on their finish at each tournament and the number of teams in each tournament. Teams that signed up and fished four tournaments qualified for Team of the Year. However, since there were five tournaments, they could take their best four finishes out of the five. This is what drove many of those in contention for the Team of the Year to Boysen. It was a tight race, with the 2004 Team of the Year recipients, Matt Walsh of Canistota, SD and Mark Hagen of Garvin, MN, leading the field into the Boysen tournament with 309.9788 points. Mike Peluso and Dan Sedevie of Bismarck, ND, were in second place with 296.8828 points. Darold Swank and Rick Geffre, both of Pierre, SD also were still in contention for team of the year honors and made the long trek to Wyoming. However, the Beitelspacher team and Rick Walter and Bruce Brugger were the only ones that made the cut for Day 3 at the Boysen tournament, which put them way ahead of the rest of the field in points. The only way the winning team could beat the team of Rick Walter and Bruce Brugger was to finish within at least ten places to them. Even though Rick and Bruce took 3rd place at the Boysen tournament, it was not enough to edge out Colin and Brent Beitelspacher, who placed 7th and captured the title.
Team of the year receives $10,000 cash, all five entries for 2006 tournaments paid, an entry into the 2005 Princecraft Championship, coats, and plaques for a total of $18,750 in cash and prizes
