Gary Zart and Wayne Jesionowski won the Lake Erie Walleye Trail "Team of the Year" title today with a win in the Triton boats/Evinrude ETEC Lorain finale. They ensured there slim points lead with a solid win in the final tourney of the year. They used some awesome new tandem high speed spinners to pull their fish.
Team Zaborski, a father/son and son team, for the "3rd time in a row" won the Open Division tourney.
More details soon but the winning weight for Wayne and Gary was around 27 pounds and the Big fish for the tourney was about 8 1/4 pounds. The Noreaster Saturday night appears to have awakened at least a few good biters finally.
More detail and pictures will be available by Monday afternoon on the WBSA Club website. www.wbsa.us
Congratulations Wayne and Gary!
Many thanks to our sponsors for helping to make this series possible and rewarding for everyone fishing. The list is long but special thanks to Spitzer for providing an excellent tournament site and to Boat US/West Marine for waking us up with coffee and donuts in the morning and cold drinks afterward and Hungry Howies for feeding us as much pizza as we could handle during the weigh in. Thanks also goes to Stinger spoons, Reefrunner lures, Erie Outfitters, Cranberry Creek Marina, Sportsmans Outpost, Rich Hook, Line and sinker, Kipawa props & Buckeye Rodmaker for sending everyone home a winner with some fantastic prizes.
Congratulations to Wayne and Gary, for getting it done. I hope things continue to go well for both of you.
You blew them away!!!

Gary and Wayne,
Congratulations on an outstanding LEWT season! Your victory Saturday really punctuated a season of consistently high finishes. We thought we had a chance to catch you guys on Saturday, but you put those thoughts to rest. I am definitely looking foward to competing against you and all the other teams again next year on the LEWT.
I'd also like to reiterate Marc's comments on the outstanding support of the LEWT sponsors. This has been a fantastic first year for the LEWT. No doubt, it will only get better in the coming years. Also thanks to the efforts of Marc, Matt Davis, Chris Williams, and probably a few others I'm leaving out this circuit has started out doing things the "right way". If you reading this and are a Lake Erie angler and enjoy great competition with a super bunch of people, check out the WBSA club and the LEWT circuit next year. See you there.

How did the team of Hawk Eye and Optimist do? Haven't seen anything posted on WBSA.

Hawkeye brought a tourney limit in. In fact most teams had tourney limits except for yours truly and a couple others.
We are running behind with results on this tourney. Sorry about that but real world jobs and some procrastinating got in the way. I'll get it posted on our site and here too, early evening tonight. Promise!
We'll be taking entries for the Sept 24th Huron Hawg Fest starting in early August. Stay tuned.

Just wanted to take a minute to offer my congratulations to Gary & Wayne for an awesome consistent year. Their success is definitely deserved and earned - they put a tremendous amount of time & effort into developing a pattern for each event and have made the right adjustments in crunchtime. Gary & Wayne enjoy tremendous support from their families and their "secret weapon" Gary's 8 year old son Nicholas during prefishing.
Also congrats need to go out to Team Zaborski for 3 consecutive wins in the Open division.

Ladybridge, we finished in the middle of the pack. Caught about 10 keepers, but not the right size. The Optimist carried me all day on his side of the boat. One problem for us: It was a crawler harness bite, and I ran out of crawlers around noon. Pretty stupid on my part.
I echo that the WBSA is a first class tournament ran very professionally. Terrific job by all involved in organizing a first-year tournament circuit. I hope to fish more WBSA tournaments next year, and encourage anyone to look into the WBSA. A great group of people, and some darn good fishermen/women.
Great job by Gary and Waye, who really located some nice fish and had a super year. The Optimist and I were fishing about a mile south. As the late Jim Fofrich said in a tournament I fished with him: We were in the right church, but the wrong pew....and also I must have said the worng prayers too.
Look forward to fishing the Hawk Fest in late September.

Hawk Eye,
Good try. The WBSA tourney is alot of fun. Sure makes a day of fishing more exciting. A worm bite? I would have been in trouble, I can't tell you the last time I fished with worms.
It looks like we will have 2 boats trailering to Erieu. As of now, we are planning to be there August 4th and stay thru the weekend. Hopefully you and Tom will have the steelies located and point us in the right direction.
I'm going try to get my boat to Huron for the Hawg Fest. Couldn't make last years event. Sounds like a good time.
